​On the day of your visit:

You should arrive at the visitor centre at least 30 minutes before your scheduled visit time to allow time to go through security. If you arrive after your visit start time, the amount of time you have on the visit will be reduced. If you arrive more than 30 minutes after your visit start time, you will not be allowed to enter.

Jigsaw staff are here to support you before and after your visit. Please approach a member of staff if you have any questions or concerns.

Identification requirements:

You must bring ID on every visit, for all adult and child visitors. ​

​

All visitors aged under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. A full birth certificate must be brought for visitors who are aged under 18, red books will be accepted for babies up to six weeks old.

​

Only original documents will be accepted, not photos or photocopies. See a list of acceptable forms of ID

Entering the visit room:

You are not allowed to take any of the following items into the visit room: phones, keys, watches, tissues, purses, wallets, scarves or hats (other than religious items). There are lockers available where you can leave your belongings safely during your visit. 

​

If you are visiting with children you are allowed to take a nappy, wipes and baby formula (made up into liquid, not powder) into the visit hall in a clear plastic bag which the visitor centre can provide. You may bring a pram into the visit. Prams will be fully searched before you enter the visit room.

 

There is step free access into the visit room for wheelchair users. If you need to take medication or inhalers into the visit, please make staff aware of this when you arrive.

​There are CCTV cameras in the visit room and your visit may be terminated at any time if officers consider your behaviour to be inappropriate.

​

Visitor dress code:

There is a dress code for visitors. You are not permitted to wear boots higher than ankle height, steel toe caps or spiked shoes; tops which reveal midriff, cleavage or bare chest; no vest tops; no shorts or skirts shorter than knee length; no ripped clothing; no sports team logos; no headwear or scarves other than for religious purposes; no clothing that is offensive or displays inappropriate material.

You are allowed to wear jewellery and a belt in the visit room.

Refreshments:

Drinks and snacks can be bought from the refreshment bar in the visit room.

​

HMP Leeds: each adult can bring up to £30 to spend in the visit room. This can be in coins or notes, but not bank cards.

HMP Wealstun: each adult can bring up to £20 to spend in the visit room. This can be in coins or notes, but not bank cards.

​
